Error: Smart Keg fermentation doesn't startUpdated 4 days ago
Smart Keg Not Starting Fermentation
If your Smart Keg doesn't transition into fermentation mode, it may be due to a process error that was marked as failed in our backend. This causes the base station to think the brewing process hasn’t finished, so fermentation doesn't begin as expected.
💡 What to do
To ensure a smooth start to fermentation:
Remove the keg from the base station and connect it to electricity
Sanitize all tools and surfaces before adding the yeast
Keep the keg in a clean, temperature-stable environment.
🧪 Is the Brew Still Safe?
Yes—if you worked hygienically, your brew should still be safe and fermentable.
Here’s what we recommend:
Monitor fermentation over the next 12–24 hours. If bubbles appear in the airlock or pressure builds, fermentation is starting.
Keep the keg at the target fermentation temperature to activate the yeast.
Perform an extra trub removal after 48 hours if you notice excess sediment or cloudy beer.
If fermentation hasn't started after 48 hours, please don't hesitate to contact support so we can assist in resetting the process or provide the appropriate solution.
