  2. ABV
    It is used to measure the alcohol content of beer. At MiniBrew beers fall between 0,0 and 14,5% ABV range.

Add device
A new Device is either an alpha, beta GEN 1, GEN 2 or GEN 3 or it could be Smart keg 2.0 / 3.0. To understand the difference between all version, please check the following article

  1. App
    MiniBrew iOS or Android app to use MiniBrew. Additional it can be any  third-party software that integrates with MiniBrew. In the future apps can be added to MiniBrew.

Airlock with rubber stopper
A component that releases CO₂ during the fermentation process. You can buy this component in the MiniBrew shop

  2. Base station
    The main machine that contains all components to start Rinsing the device. A Smart keg is required to make a beer.

  3. Base station reservoir
    The base section of the Base station which collects split fluid around the Keg receiver 

  4. Ball lock connectors
    Two black components to be attached to the Keg post of the Keg lid. You can purchase a set in the MiniBrew shop.

  5. Beer tap
    An industry standard faucet to pour beer and easily to connect to one of the black Ballock connectors. You can purchase this component in the MiniBrew shop.

  6. Beer tube
    A tube inside the Smart keg. It needs to be connected to the growler head. You can purchase the component in the MiniBrew shop.

  7. Billing statement
    The billing statement acts as a proof of payment and can be requested via our support team at [email protected]

  8. Blow-off
    It is nothing more than a generous length of tube with on end plugs into the Keg post and the other end is submerged in an container.

  9. Bottom mash filter
    A filter in the mash tun placed on the bottom. 

  10. Boiling
    The wort is boiled in the Smart keg to extract flavour, particularly bitterness and aroma compounds. Boiling also stabilises the wort by killing any residual micro organisms from the malt and unwanted proteins. 

  11. Brew logs
    A feature available to MiniBrew Support and Service team of a brew session. Individual members can not view or access logs for their own account.

  12. Brew pack
    A Brew pack contains fresh ingredients, such as Malt, Yeast and hops pallets to brew 5-6 liters of beer. Some recipes have additionally ingredients, such as sugar or dry fruit. There are no additives or extract used in a MiniBrew brew pack.

  13. Brewery portal
    A online web page where full pro-members have access to create their own recipes, tweak and cloning existing recipe from the library. To become full pro-member, pleas visit pro.mnibrew.io


  14. C

Carbonation
When adding CO the in the beer. To keep carbonation ongoing you require pressure in the Smart keg.

Chemsan
It's an acid-based no-rinse sanitiser to disinfect components when you brew beer. Fill about the spray bottle with 20 ml Chemsan and 80 ml water to get a self-foaming solution to use. This item you can buy in the MiniBrew shop

Clean In Place container + filter
A component used for cleaning your base station automatically. The container including a small filter and tubes are connector to the Front connectors and the Mash tun receiver. You can purchase this component in the MiniBrew shop

Confirmation statement
After purchasing a product on Minibrew webshop you get a confirmation statement that contains a summary of your purchase.

Conditioning
A way to carbonate the beer  by carefully re-fermenting the beer in the Smart keg. 

CO cylinders
Each cylinder contains 16 gram of CO₂. You can purchase this component in a set of three in the MiniBrew shop.

CO pressure regulator
A component that regulates CO through 16 gram cartridges that flows into the Smart keg to carbonate and dispense beer. It's connect to the one of the Ball lock connectors. You can purchase this component in the MiniBrew shop

Cooling
A important proces that goes quickly in an air tight Smart keg to zero-out oxidation. Once the wort is cooled down, you may add the Yeast.


D

Deactivate account
When you are ready to leave brewing for good, deactivate your account. If you sold your Minibrew to other person or company, you'll need to deactivate your account individually.

Description
A description of the way a recipe is called.

Device
A device can be either the name of the product, such as GEN 1, GEN 2 or GEN 3. 

Device ID
This is serial number located under the QR code and the back of the Base station. There is no need to set up the Smart keg. They will appear automatically during fermenting and serving.

Dishwasher tablet
A strong tablet with a powerful cleaning action without additional cleaning agent to clean your Smart keg.

Downtime
Downtime is based on two factors: the number of minutes that MiniBrew was unavailable, and the percentage of customers that were affected. If MiniBrew is down, we use server monitoring software to measure the server side error rate, ping test results, web server tests, TCP port tests and broker tests. 

Draft invoice
A commercial document between MiniBrew and a customer that outlines the draft of sale, and provides information on how to make payment.

Dry Hopping
It refers to any hop addition after the wort has been cooled. These additions can be done in the primary or secondary fermentation by adding hops directly into the Keg filter.


E

Email notification
By default, you'll get email notifications when MiniBrew ships a product. If you're not actively using MiniBrew and you'll get marketing messages.

Efficiency
The average efficiency of brewing beer with MiniBrew is between 68-80%.

    Fermentation
    The process whereby Yeast cells obtains energy and produces alcohol. The amount of alcohol depends on the amount of sugar present. To determine the alcohol level by volume is to multiple the drop in gravity by 0.129. For example a beer that began at an original gravity of 1048 and finished at 1008 would have 40*0.129 = 5,16% abv.

  2. FG
    The final gravity where the Wort it officially beer. MiniBrew FG level is between 0.9 and 1.04

  3. Free subscription
    You can use MiniBrew with a limited number of features for free, such as brewing with brew packs, but  if you need more features and functionality, we offer a full pro-membership.

  4. Front connectors
    Two white connector at the front panel to connect the Clean In Place container.

  5. Full pro-membership
    Members have access to use features in the Brewery portal.

  6. Full name
    A person's entire name listed in their member profile. This could mean ‘first and last’, although it can also mean many other things in many different cultures and countries.

G

G-Bouy
A gravity sensor that measure the gravity of your wort during fermentation and let you know when fermentation is ready. Product is on hold. 

Grease
A special formula to extend the life of any seal in the MiniBrew.

 

H

Hop
There are many varieties with different aroma characteristics. Classic hops includes Saaz and provide specific flavours. More recent varieties from USA offer more bitterness. Each Brew pack contain the right amount of hops to brew beer. 

Hop bags
Reusable bags made from 100% Bio-cotton that you can use to put hop pallets in. These bags are used as an extra filter.

Hop carousel
A component that has 6 cylinder for hop and other items

Hop cover
A cover on top of the hop carousel to block the steam from coming out the machine

Hop disks
Six hop disks to be placed in the Hop carousel to ensure the hops drop in the Keg filter.You can buy this component in the MiniBrew shop.


I

IBU
It stand for International Bitterness Units, a scale to gauge the level of beer's bitterness. The scale is from 0 to infinity basically.

Inlet high pressure tube
With a length between 1,5 -3 meter (depending on the model) you connect the base station with your tap. You can purchase 1,5 meter at the MiniBrew shop.

Invoice
A commercial document between MiniBrew and a customer that outlines the terms of sale, and provides information of the purchase.

K

Keg filter
A filter placed in the Smart Keg to catch the hop pellets or other ingredients during the boil of your brew. You can purchase this component in the MiniBrew shop.

Keg lid
A lid to close the Smart keg. It has function for tapping, co2 submission and releasing pressure. There is hook for dry hopping on the inside. You can purchase this component in the MiniBrew shop

Keg post
Two stainless steel post on top of the Keg lid. One has tap function and the other co2 submission role. 

Keg power adapter
A one meter cable that connects the Smart keg to electricity. You can buy this component in the MiniBrew shop.

Keg stand
A component that is packed in 3 parts with 6 screws. When you click the parts, you have as stand to place the smart keg on top of it. This Keg stand makes it easier to remove the trub container. You can buy this component in the MiniBrew shop.

Keg receiver filter
A filter that block particles to go through. It prevents blocking the tubes and device. You can purchase this component in the MiniBrew shop.

Keg receiver seal
A rubber seal placed in the keg receiver body that make the connection between the Smart keg and Base station air tight. The seals prevent leaking. You can purchase this component in the MiniBrew shop.

Keg Receiver ring
A ring that's placed on top on the keg receiver seal to heep the filer and seal in place. You can purchase this component in the MiniBrew shop.

M

Malt
Malt is processed grain seeds. Brew pack contain specially prepared malt brewing. 

Malt Bed
In the Mash tun there will be carefully made mash bed between Bottom and Top mash filter that moves in the mash tun remove unwanted proteins, polyphenols and husk remains. 

Mashing
Mashing is conducted in the Mash tun where malt is incubated with brewing liquid between 60 and 72 celsius (140 -159°F). Such a temperature is important in order to optimise the enzyme activity to digest the starch.

Mash filling cap
When you fill your mash tun with malt, you can place the cap on the inner tube pf the Mash tun to prevent spillage. You can buy this component in the MiniBrew shop

Mash tun 2.0
A transparent tun that contains the wort. Version 2.0 stands for improved version where the thickness of the material has been improved. The Mash tun comes back in stock in 2024.

Mash tun cap
A component that connect the Mash tun to the Base station. When placed correctly it prevents leaking. You can buy this component in the MiniBrew shop.

Mash tun lid
A component that closes the Mash tun. It comes with a hop steam seal to prevent steam entering the Hop carousel. You can buy this component in the MiniBrew shop.

Mash tun isolation
A seal at the bottom the Mash tun to keep the Mash tun air tight with the Smart keg.

Mash tun oval tube
A tube from the Mash tun cap into the inner tub of the Mash tun to guide the flow of the device.

Mash tun receiver body
A component inside the front panel to lock the mechanisme. The Mash tun receiver body comes back in stock in 2024.

Mash tun receiver ring
A component on top of the Mash tun receiver seal to lock the mechanisme.  The Mash tun receiver ring comes back in stock in 2024.

Mash tun receiver seal
A component on top of the Mash tun receiver body that makes the connection between the Mash tun / CIP and Base station. You can buy this component in the MiniBrew shop.

Mash tun valve
A component that connect the Mash tun to the Base station. When placed correctly it prevents leaking. You can buy this component in the MiniBrew shop.

Member
The way the Customer Support and Service will refer to everyone in that brew with Minibrew, regardless of your skill level.

Notification preferences
You can customise your notification preferences for desktop, mobile and specific channels from any device.

Notes
You can private notes and public note to a recipe you created.


O

OG
Original Gravity is an indication of the beer potential alcohol percentage. Minibrew range is between 990 and 1120. 

Outlet tube
A 1 to 2 meter tube that connects at the back of the Base station and other end in the sink to let the water out of the device.

Password reset
A setting where you or our support team can force a reset of all passwords for all accounts. Each member will receive a message from MiniBrew telling them that a reset has been triggered, and will then receive a password reset link via email.

Peace of mind maintenance service
A service to extend the warranty of your machine with 3 years. To extend the warranty, please get a package

A service to extend the warranty of your machine with 3 years. Additional you get free spare parts after 25 brews. To extend the warranty, please get a package.

Pressure relief valve
A component used on top of the Smart keg to release pressure. Features a long nobody with a spring, red rubber seal and grey top to pull the ring.You can buy the pressure relief valve in the MiniBrew shop.

Primary fermentation
This is the initial fermentation, in which yeast convert sugars in alcohol.

Profile
Your profile helps fellow beer brewers to learn more about who you are. By default, everyone can add the following to their profile: a name, username, bio and photo.

PU number
A PU number, meaning Pick Up. It means your product are collected in the warehouse and waiting for export papers before shipment.

R

Residu
These are yeast particles developed during fermentation that you want to remove from your beer. 

Rinsing
Before starting any brew the operating system follow automatic step to clean all internal tube in the device. 

Rinse connector
A component that has two tubes to be connected to ball lock connector on the Smart keg and connected to the Base station. It will rinse the system before brewing. You can buy this component in the MiniBrew shop


S

Search
Using search in the portal, it's easy to come find a specific beer style when you need to. Use the search field to find a recipe. To narrow results using filters and modifiers will be launched in the future.

Secondary fermentation
This is the second fermentation, in which you age the alcohol and remove the Residu the Yeast has created

Service level agreement (SLA)
Our service level agreement (SLA) for member and full pro members guarantees a 99.99% uptime. 

Session duration
A setting that makes it so that once you started brewing, a few session will remain active until they explicitly finish the cleaning process. This setting allows you to force to close the previous session. 

Sparge plate
At the bottom of the Mash tun lid there is ar removable sparge plate. When adding water through the inner tube on top the machine, the water will equally divided to get more efficiency out of your malt bed

Spray bottle
A handy spray bottle to add Chemsan and easily clean your components. 

Smart Keg
A vessel that ferments and serves your beer. A Smart Keg can only be used in combination with a Minibrew Base station. In the future a stand alone Smart Keg will be launched.

Starter Pack
It contains all the necessary materials to begin your brew, and most items are reusable for multiple brews. With a brand new device, you get a starter pack for free. It can purchased separately in MiniBrew's shop

Steam condensor
A small twisted component to slow down the steam and small from the Device

SRM
A standard research method number scale of beer color. The color or your beer is detrained by the grains you use. The SRM scales range from 1 to 40+


T

Timestamp
The timestamp shows you the exact date and time that a brew in MiniBrew was started.

Top mash filter
A filter in the mash tun placed on the top. 

Top cover panel
A cover that seals the Mash tun with the Mash tun lid in place. You can purchase this part in our shop. There is wooden version and soon to be launched GEN 3 version.

Transfer ownership
A primary owner has the highest level of permissions in MiniBrew. If needed, primary ownership can be transferred to another member by removing your devices from "my brewery" tab in full pro-member environment.

Trub container
A small container to remove the residu from your beer during fermentation. You can buy this component in the MiniBrew shop
